In the early days, this checkpoint was simply a person with a clipboard at the top of Sierra. At the invitation of a fellow double rider, we've been allowed to use this driveway now for many years. This is a private home. Please use every consideration possible. We set up at the top of his driveway. There is limited space. You may want to ask the owner if a few cars can be parked at the bottom of the driveway. The owner has often brought his goat named Alto to add atmosphere. Early on riders were encouraged to "pet-the-goat" in order to be able to partake of the nourishment at the stop, and thus arose the name. |
